Building Emotion”

  • Architecture & development

JUMA architects is a young and self-willed architectural firm that is synonymous with timeless design and great detailing. The studio is always looking for the perfect harmony between architecture, interior and furniture, and completes each project with a personal touch, completely in accordance with the client's finishes each project with a personal touch, entirely according to the client's wishes.

Julie van De Keere and Mathieu Luyens have been the creative duo behind JUMA architects, located in Sint-Martens-Latem, since 2009. Both on a personal and professional level, they share the same ambitions, of which their company is the perfect example. They are each other's sounding board and together they create beautiful customised residential architecture. However, JUMA does not only design, the studio also understands and advises. Personal contact with the client is therefore of crucial importance to them. In this way, the interfaces between architect and client can be uncovered, which forms the basis for each design. It is important that each plan reflects the personality of the client and causes emotion, we hear from the architects. In a JUMA design, functionality always comes first, although the studio naturally looks beyond that. Each project is a perfect symbiosis of functionality, aesthetics and cost price. ‘As an expert, it is crucial to apply the right materials creatively, in price, looks and function,’ says the duo. This translates into refined detailing that exudes subdued luxury. Each realisation is characterised by sustainable designs with a contemporary and timeless style and high-quality materials and shapes. The result is a customised total concept, with a balanced composition of space and materials at its basis. The end result creatively unites many wishes and applications and is a concrete translation of emotions. Photography by Annick Vernimmen
