TENARCHITECTS gains inspiration from both modernist and traditional architects, as well as oriental wabi sabi philosophy. It revolves around developing a balance in the architecture. The firm does this, among others, by uniting natural contrasts and dualities. Today, Imagicasa is happy to take you along to one of their recent projects, a triplex on Antwerp’s Scheldekaaien called House DW.
The design of this timeless penthouse on Antwerp’s Scheldekaaien was fully custom created for the client by manager Elke Van Goel. This triplex is provided with all possible luxury and allows the residents to completely relax with the cosy hotelsuite interior of this home in the sky. On the fifth floor, there are two large bedrooms with each their own terrace with unique view. On the sixth floor, you can enjoy the phenomenal skyline of Antwerp from the living area, the kitchen, and the dining area, as well as a panoramic view of the Scheldt and the renewed quays. Through the stairs you arrive at the roof, complete with a sauna that looks out on the Cathedral. It was a deliberate choice to use timeless, sustainable, and honest materials in soft and natural hues. Furthermore, the architect was inspired by Eastern culture. It concerns a yin and yang, creating balance in architecture where all elements form a synergy. A touch of luxury to the simplicity makes the whole coherent. The philosophy of this project – and the other realisations of TENARCHITECTS – is ‘less is more with a little luxury’.
Timeless, sustainable, and honest materials in soft and natural hues.
This apartment dates from the nineties and took eight months to optimise. The biggest wish of the client was to provide all possible luxury and come up with a cosy hotel feeling where he can find peace. TENARCHITECTS thoroughly advised him with this and altered the complete structure and layout. He preferred earthy colours and strong, sustainable, and coarse materials. Less is more is his motto, which became clear. Designers such as Axel Vervoordt and Vincent Van Duysen are his style icons when it comes to interiors, and he is happy to get inspired by them.
‘In this apartment, I consciously opted for a timeless beauty of all materials. Right now I may well find a green marble kitchen stunning, but in my own home I prefer something that is still going to be en vogue in ten year’s time. I am a restless man and I know that I won’t stay here for very long. Now that it is completed, I am already looking at the next challenge,’ we hear. If he decides to leave this impressive home, however, he would miss this unique place, because the 360° view of Antwerp and the Scheldt is phenomenal.
There is no denying that Imagicasa has a great partner with TENARCHITECTS. Time and again, they present project gems. We are already looking forward to their future creations, so that we can highlight them again and excite our readers with their beautiful realisations.
