Sometimes you need a place where you can completely retreat and focus on yourself. Umuarama Residence fully meets these wishes and, in addition, is a beautiful home that feels like an inspiring cradle. Today Imagicasa lies down here for a moment as well.
Architect Victor Ortiz should be proud of his project in São Paulo, Brazil that he carried out in 2020. The home is located in the mountains and, thus, looks out over a unique environment. Therefore, it is logical that Ortiz extensively drew inspiration from the surrounding nature. The main goal of the project was, namely, to express the desire to create architecture that appears to emerge directly from nature. According to Imagicasa, he undoubtedly did an excellent job with this. Indoor and outdoor spaces effortlessly flow into each other by, on the one hand, maximally focusing on natural light and ventilation and, on the other, installing glass sliding doors. Also, the indoor vegetation assures that the outdoor world is brought inside in a literal way. Furthermore, Ortiz found it crucial that the residence had the smallest impact possible on the terrain, so he decided to follow the natural landscape and divide the common space in two.
Despite its large size, the living area has a cosy feel.
Additional to a love for nature, Umuarama Residence reflects an inviting and warm atmosphere. This is, among others, the consequence of working with wood and linen in the interior. At the heart of the house, you also find a unique fireplace where anyone would enjoy spending time. Even though the living area has a large surface, Ortiz did succeed in giving the room a cosy feeling, for example by choosing the right decoration and completion. For example, he selected pottery that continues the natural colour palette of the furniture. The roof consists of metal and is finished on the inside with European Oak that, besides warmth, creates an interesting texture and contrasts with the stone walls and the concrete floor. The result is an intriguing whole, both on the part of the architecture and the interior. Another important goal of Ortiz was carefully handling local resources, ranging from material and labour to furniture designers and artists. When looking at the visuals, we conclude that he certainly succeeded in this, considering that the project looks authentic and artisanal in every aspect. The Umuarama Residence is an enrichment for the surrounding mountain landscape and the people that live in it. Here, you relax in an impressive home that honours the local in every possible way.
