This new concept by the Turkish-Italian designer Utkan Gunerkan is based on natural elements such as water and rocks and the ways in which they can have an architectural function without being ecologically invasive.
Gunerkan was born in Istanbul and studied architecture at the well-known Politecnico di Milano, after which he gained work experience in both Turkey and Italy. Three years ago, he founded his own design studio where he designs spaces that are always based on the user's past and their emotional needs. Memories are an important factor in forming visual preferences, according to the architect.
The architect was inspired by the natural geological formations of the Greek island Milos.
Currently, Utkan Gunerkan is mainly concerned with creating inspiring and innovative concepts. He sent a proposal for the renovation of the destroyed Notre Dame in Paris into the world. His latest design is that of a relaxing terrace for a house on the Greek island of Milos.
The architect was inspired by the natural presence of rocks to create a relaxing place in harmony with its surroundings. The colours, materials and shapes all fit perfectly with the beautiful nature of the archipelago.
