- Interior
The most beautiful interiors are often those of creative minds. Entrepreneur and photographer Muk van Lil lives in Casa Kanso, a house that she furnished together with Lotte Faassen x Studio de Blieck and which immediately gives away that she is active in the field of interior and beauty. Ze devised a retro style that yet feels modern and is the right reflection of her personal vision. The serene result makes you go silent for a moment and makes you dream of a similar gem for yourself.
As an interior photographer, Muk van Lil has had numerous homes before her camera that inspired her and increasingly nurtured a profound interest. When she bought a property north of Amsterdam, The Netherlands with her partner, she soon knew that here she would be able to fully act out her passion for interior. More specifically, the house is in Middenbeemster, the oldest village of the nearby area. The architecture refers to the style of back in the day and proved to be a good match with her own vision. With two complete floors, an attic, and a total of 195 square metres, there was room galore for van Lil to shape her dream interior. There is a clear wabi sabi influence, but also other styles found their place, such as retro architecture. It was mainly of great importance for the couple that coming home would equal escaping the chaos. With this in mind, they solely used colours such as beige, white, and similar tints. Subtle and organic shapes strengthen the calm feeling that is conjured by this palette. One of the striking assets of Casa Kanso is that it is an interior that originated out of the couple’s introspection. Muk and Nick reflected on what their house needed and what they desired from their future home themselves. The result is an aesthetic whole where their senses are stimulated to the right extent. Moreover, the home ensures a tactile experience: the texture of the wallpaper, the irregular surface of the sideboard, and the soft upholstery of the sofa make you live in the present.

Furthermore, it was important that nature was given a place in the interior. They did this among others by placing large windows and floors in cement and travertine. In the past the couple made an unforgettable journey to South Africa, where they gained lasting inspiration, which they expressed in Casa Kanso. Symmetry was also reflected extensively; for example, in the master bathroom you can immediately tell that the one half of the design has been mirrored, as it were. In this way, the peaceful character of the interior is extra highlighted. There is no doubt that it is blissful to live here. With Casa Kanso, Muk van Lil proves that she totally knows how to let a home answer to her personal needs and wishes The peaceful interior invites you to occupy yourself with the things that truly matter and forms a serene canvas for the future.
