Oblique House, designed by Niels Maier and Ruimtemakers, was given a contrasting and geometric look both inside and out. Consisting of different materials, colours and textures, this residence became a balanced, elegant and luxurious whole.

The contrast of materials and colours of the architecture continues in the interior.
One of his beautiful interior design projects is Oblique House, a geometric house in the south of the Netherlands. This residence was designed in collaboration with Ruimtemakers Architecten and was inspired by the surrounding forest. The architecture consists of three volumes of different materials so that they contrast strongly with each other and the surroundings. The block of the ground floor, where the living, dining and kitchen areas and master bedroom are located, consists of grey stone. The second volume is made of wood and contains the storage rooms and laundry room. For the third structure, which sits on top of the other two and contains the children's bedrooms and bathroom, Corian was used, a solid material resembling granite. In this white facade there are oblique lines, hence the name of the project. ‘The oblique lines reflect the family nest and create a unique and timeless appearance,’ says Maier. The three blocks give the house a strong geometric and balanced look with modernist influences. The contrast of materials and colours of the architecture continues in the interior. Niels Maier designed the house in a minimalist way with a monochrome palette and custom furniture. This gave the residence a sophisticated and soothing aesthetic that is both warm and cosy and luxurious. Images courtesy of Niels Maier
