Monteverdi Tuscany is a unique boutique hotel located between the Italian cities of Florence and Rome. You can find it in the historic village of Castiglioncello del Trinoro that overlooks the lush Tuscan nature and hills. There are twenty-nine rooms ranging from a luxury room, a luxury view suite, a village suite and a private village house with two, three or six bedrooms. The hotel also has a restaurant, a culinary academy and a spa.
Castiglioncello del Trinoro was a semi-abandoned Medieval village on the top of a hill overlooking Val d'Orcia. Michael L. Cioffi discovered it when he was in Tuscany in 2003. The atmosphere of the old architecture and the surroundings intrigued him and a few years later he decided to renovate the village villa by villa together with interior architect Ilaria Miani. Monteverdi Tuscany was thus created step by step and is now undergoing another extension that will be completed in June 2021. ‘My vision for Monteverdi was to create a place unlike any other,’ explains Cioffi. ‘A place of incomparable beauty, stunning architecture and design, all further complemented by the cultural amenities of art, music and the humanities. A place that ignites both the physical senses and the intellect.’

Monteverdi Tuscany is named after the sixteenth century humanist Claudio Monteverdi. The name refers to the importance of Italian history in the hotel. Each building has been carefully renovated taking into account its original structure and style. Ilaria Miani studied old documents and plans in order to build new buildings or extensions of the hotel in the same style. Miani and Cioffi wanted to avoid an overly rustic style at all costs so that Monteverdi Tuscany did not become a tourist cliché. As a result, the interiors were decorated with a combination of historical elements and contemporary influences from Milan and Rome. The modern additions were kept subtle, blurring the line between old and new. The colour palette was inspired by the surroundings and the sunset. Monteverdi Tuscany is not just a residence, it offers a real cultural experience. An experience of the Italian way of life in terms of food, architecture, art and philosophy. https://monteverdituscany.com
