The Logan Cove Marina & Clubhouse in Zhongshan, China was designed by the Dutch company UNStudio and functions as a hub for maritime activities. Located on the banks of the Xi River, the Clubhouse was designed to replicate the look and experience of a luxury yacht. To reinforce this concept, the studio used materials with maritime connections such as wooden paneling referring to the deck of the moored luxury ships and bronze coloured aluminum panels along the outside as a tribute to the materials and craftsmanship used on yachts and speedboats. The facades were also matched to the land and waterfront. From the land the building appears as a large mass with few openings or windows, but along the waterfront the facade is open and the building consists mainly of glass. The Marina consists of facilities for social affairs, business, wellness, and so on. You'll find restaurants, a members-only club, spa, fitness, karaoke bar and guest rooms. In this architectural gem you can relax and unwind but also discover. You’ll feel like you are on a luxury yacht or cruise. That was exactly what UNStudio had in mind.
