Previously, we already wrote about the work of interior designer Yana Prydalna. Her modern and calming wabi-sabi style finds a lot of resonance with us and our readers. Today we introduce you to Meridian House, one of her recent residential designs.
Meridian House is located in Joshua Tree, California. As soon as the design is realised and finished, the intention is to rend it. The surroundings were an important guideline for Yana Prydalna; namely, these consist of a desert atmosphere and discoloured shades. When looking at the images, you clearly see that the outside feeling has nestled itself in the architecture and the interior. In the living area you look out on Joshua trees through panoramic windows and in the late afternoon you are greeted by the low sun. If music would play here, it would be Bob Dylan’s Blowin’ in the Wind, according to Prydalna. An element that is evidently present are the brown wooden beams above the living area. They create a barn-like appearance that is strengthened by the large and open surface of the common area. Furthermore, wood regularly returns in the interior, both in the accessories as in the furniture. The walls and the floor were given the right textures to blend in with the nearby landscape. You see Prydalna’s loyalty to wabi-sabi, among others, in the round shapes of the sofas and the natural materials. To change up the creamy and brown colour palette, the interior designer incorporated a few accents that break with this in a pleasant way, such as the red-orange carpet and the cactus.
Some colourful accents break with the creamy and brown palette.
Whoever stays here is submerged in a casual cosiness and a relaxed feeling. The kitchen, the dining area and the living room are situated in one open space, which enhances the pleasant mood even more. Conversations can be held in the sofas or at the dining table, but also at the spacious kitchen island. Initially, its worktop was made out of wood, but this changed later to an alternative white version. Considering that all the kitchen appliances are hidden, the space consistently looks tidied and in order here as well. Concerning the lighting, the room has outspoken chandeliers, but also spotlights that were incorporated in the ceiling.
This design of interior designer Yana Prydalna proves again that she has an excellent taste and feeling for a complete concept. Meridian House makes everybody long for a life in the Californian sun. In this home, you live according to the aesthetic and the rhythm of the nature that surrounds you, and this with an abundance of tranquillity and ambience.
