We have already written about a project by the creative Chinese designer Wen Chao of Jade Simple Design. Back then, he created a visual experience where most of the materials in the room were united, giving a very soothing impression. This time, we take you to an understated and delicate project in Chongqing, China's most populous city.
The design agency Jade Simple Design describes their latest project as ‘the new hermit: reserved and delicate daily life’. Twelve years ago, the owner bought this home located at the foot of Nanshan Mountain in Chongqing. The city quickly developed into a lively and extraordinary city of internet celebrities, which the local residents, however, did not like. They want to enjoy the tranquillity of life more. Therefore, the agency considers their lives as ‘new hermits’. Here, it is not a question of escaping from real life but rather a self-appointed way of finding a state of life that suits you and where you can fully enjoy the connection between life, work and society.
Similar with a restrained and delicate daily life.
The modern Wabi-Sabi design style is fully reflected in this design. As time grows, the beauty of simplicity and tranquillity is found in imperfections. Designer Chao constructs the architectural space to a simple, peaceful and easily lived-in spatial state. For example, the interior space was given a natural symbiosis thanks to the green plants outside and the alternating weather of sunlight and rain. Elements such as paint, wood and cement are part of the foundation of the building. In addition, works of art, furniture and utensils give value to the space and embody quality. Here the Wabi-Sabi emerges not only as a serene refuge but also as a true attitude to life. Jade Simple Design hopes that this design will provide the owner with an extremely comfortable experience by creating an atmosphere in the room. And this extremely comfortable experience stems from three aspects. One is the use of Wabi-Sabi to give the space an overall visual feel. The second is the achievement of an extremely comfortable state through touch. Therefore, when choosing furniture, the principles of softness, naturalness, mattness and low saturation should be followed. Thirdly, obtaining a rich living experience at relatively low cost is also an extreme psychological comfort. The result has been a considered balance between vision, atmosphere, value, comfort, and input and output. Finally, this balance will also deliver a more ideal living experience for the owners.
