Looking for total relaxation and absolute privacy? Then a well-deserved holiday on a private island is definitely something for you! These images alone will make you dream away at better times and give you a total sense of tranquillity.
The story of the Song Saa Private Island begins in 2006 when entrepreneurial couple Rory Hunter and Melita Koulmandas Hunter take a sailing trip through the Koh Rong Archipelago. Many of the islands in the Gulf of Thailand are uninhabited or undeveloped, but are oases of beautiful rainforests, tropical reefs and pearly white beaches. To their amazement, Rory and Melita were offered to buy two adjacent islands, Koh Ouen and Koh Bong, for just $15,000. They took the opportunity to embark on a long process to raise enough funds, local support and permissions to build a luxurious resort at this unique location. At the same time, the two felt a great responsibility to protect the environment as much as possible and to boost tourism in the area.
Dreaming away at a unique holiday destination
Song Saa Private Island opened in 2012. One island was converted into a luxury resort with 27 one or two bedroom villas, each with an outdoor sitting area with a private pool and view of the sea. The Royal Villa, for example, is no less than 300 m2 and even has a kitchen and both indoor and outdoor seating for eight guests. The almost untouched nature on the other island – the two are connected by a wooden bridge over the water – lets you enjoy the beautiful fauna and flora in an unseen way. Song Saa offers numerous activities such as kayaking, snorkelling, morning yoga and guided walks through the domain where you will learn about the local ecosystem, the protected marine reserve and conservation work. The wellness facilities will also undoubtedly completely revive you, with tailor-made treatments taking place in soothing 'sanctuaries' amidst nature. Because fun and laughter also work wonders for well-being, Song Saa sees nothing wrong in drinking a glass of champagne at sunset. We certainly want to try that out!
Sustainable luxury and an impeccable service are key elements here
The Driftwood Bar on the pearly white beach and the Vista Restaurant built over the water are also simply spectacular. Should you wish to share your experiences on Song Saa Private Island as quickly as possible with friends and family, you’ll be glad to know that there is WiFi everywhere. But we especially recommend you enjoy the island and the tranquillity it offers. Although (sustainable) luxury and impeccable service are key elements here, it is especially mainly encouraged that you enjoy nature and leave all the hustle and bustle and daily worries behind you for a few days. Also those looking for a unique location for private or business events or even wedding ceremonies and honeymoons are at the right place for an exclusive experience! Song Saa is – not coincidentally – the local nickname for the two islands and translates as 'the sweethearts’.
