Morris & James consists of sister duo Shannon Holbrook and Jamie Petten whose love for interior design grew into something bigger. Today we present The Holbrook Project, Shannon's private home that was the starting point of their joint venture.
The best things come from passion. That was also the case for Morris & James, abbreviated to MJ Interiors. The Canadian duo discovered during the building process of their own dream homes that their love for interior design had potential for more. Today, they offer their services in the form of interior styling and design. Clients rely on them to transform their homes into warm, modern havens that are both contemporary and timeless. This modern warmth is inherent in Morris & James' style, as is cosy minimalism. They say their projects are often influenced by European architecture and design, as well as the cool feel of California. Other elements they regularly incorporate are vintage pieces, warm wood, and linen textiles.

Their mission is to provide clients with a home that is an extension of their own personality. They consider a home to be the place where we spend our most precious time and receive our friends and family. Therefore, it is of great importance to them that a design is shaped in a thoughtful and intentional way. This was also the case in The Holbrook Project. This is Shannon's private home, therefore, all the values of Morris & James are reflected in this design. Logically, the style is modern and minimal, yet warm at all times. The main rooms were given a white oak floor and a marble travertine finish. The sisters also had a clear vision on the architectural level, so the house has high ceilings and arches. The cupboards were also made to measure and the dining room is separated from the entrance hall by black iron doors. The dining chairs were inspired by Pierre Jeanneret. As for the colour palette, the whole house is bathed in neutral tones: white, cream, beige and brown predominate. This creates a calm atmosphere where you can both spend a moment of rest and receive numerous guests. The corner sofa makes the living room feel cosy, while the wooden bar stools at the kitchen island invite you to continue the conversation while cooking. The duo's eye for detail can be seen in the carefully chosen lighting, as well as in the dried olive tree that decorates the dining room.
With The Holbrook Project, interior design studio Morris & James communicates their vision and style in a clear manner. In this house, you enter a cosy warmth that accommodates a modern spirit. The neutral interior is the perfect palette for your home, whether you want to unwind or host loved ones. Want to get enchanted by more impressive projects and inspiring architecture?
