Located in the heart of Bangkok we find Central: The Original Store. The design conceived by Vincent Van Duysen pays homage to the building's origins and history. The renowned architect and interior designer designs this brand new building into a cultural centre that fully embraces the context of Bangkok's neighbourhoods and the changing world around it.
Vincent Van Duysen was immediately attracted to the project and took charge of designing the façade. The architect resolutely opted for a façade with traditional and handmade terracotta tiles. These come directly from the Thai province of Lampang and refer to the original façade of Central Chidlom, a former high-end department store in Bangkok. Vincent Van Duysen chose terrazzo floors and high concrete ceilings as a tribute to the history of the building. In line with the architecture and interior design of Vincent Van Duysen, the Japanese studio Tripsters took the lead for the interior of the restaurant on the rooftop restaurant, the whisky bar in the old house on the backside of the block, and the decor of the courtyard.

Furthermore, the five floors of the building are connected by a sculpted staircase and the large windows provide a beautiful view of the historic centre of Bangkok. The ground floor hosts exhibitions of vintage magazines and merchandise. One floor up, a beautiful library is hidden in the daylight. Subsequently, the third and fourth floors are used as exhibition and event rooms. The real jewel is located at the top on the panoramic roof terrace where you can dine while looking out over the bustling city. This place is perfect for an afternoon stroll with a nice cup of coffee during the day and enjoying music at nightfall. Thanks to the architecture of Vincent Van Duysen and the interior design of Studio Tripsters, the history of the building lives on. A beautiful construction that firmly supports the industrial, creative neighbourhood. This completes the circle perfectly.
