This minimalist home in Taiwan is decorated with exceptional works of art and enjoys a unique ceiling design. The project was a challenging renovation that required unconventional design solutions. It was designed by KC Design Studio in 2019.
KC Design Studio is a Taiwanese interior design agency whose mission is to create interiors that strengthen relationships between people, activities and the environment. The studio knows how to deal with spatial limitations and can transform any interior into a refined experience. 
The studio was able to transform the rooms with a carefully designed layout and creative design solutions.
Residence C (Yonghe Chen House) is one of the agency's projects and is located in New Taipei City. The flat had an uncomfortable ground plan, little sunlight and low ceilings. In short, Residence C was a challenge that KC Design Studio gladly accepted. The studio was able to transform the rooms with a carefully designed layout and creative design solutions. 
Before the transformation, the apartment was divided into several small rooms, which were opened and merged to create a sense of spaciousness. The kitchen, living and dining room became one large space and the bedroom was merged with the study. Between these two rooms is the bathroom. This layout was carefully designed so each room has sunlight. The colour palette of Residence C is grey, brown and black. It creates a sober background for designer furniture and colourful works of art. 
A striking adaptation is the unique ceiling design that is higher or lower depending on the structural beams. This ensures that every square metre in the flat is used optimally. Some parts of the ceiling are arched which provides a subtle transition between the higher ceiling and the lowered ceiling. In the minimalist, austere space, the rounded lines have a soothing effect. KC Design Studio transforms Residence C with a number of unexpected design solutions. The studio knows how to use details to give the flat character and charisma.
