At Imagicasa, we have already shown Kolkhoze’s collections to our readers several times. The Parisian gallery likes to work with extraordinary artists to create surprising new works. For their most recent collaboration, they worked together with the young French designer Capucine Guhur, who designed four pieces balancing on the border between raw beauty and theatrical aesthetics.
The gallery is led by Thibaut Van den bergh and Thomas Erber, who perfectly complement each other with their backgrounds in design and art. Their aim is to reunite designers, architects and clients searching for unique pieces. They offer their expertise and styling advice to collectors and decorators. Next to that, Kolkhoze develops beautiful, exclusive pieces in a very limited edition, going from conceptual design to ‘haute-facture’ furniture. These collections are displayed at international exhibitions and fairs. All pieces are selected on the basis of their value on the art market and their craftsmanship and are manufactured at the best workshops in France. Every piece is signed by the artist and comes with a certificate of authenticity. Here, we zoom in on the gallery’s most recent collection, designed by Capucine Guhur.
Beautiful designs that are monumental, but with the necessary refinement
Guhur is a young designer, interior architect and scenographer, who only established her studio in 2020. She lives alternately in Paris, Marseille and Brittany, where her workshop is located. As a child of creative parents, she was immersed in an artistic world from a very young age on. Important in all her works are timelessness and a love for theatricality. She often likes to play with historical and mythological references, to which she adds a contemporary touch. Furthermore, her work is a search for the perfect harmony between soft lines and strong materials. 
Her first furniture collection is called Entracte (‘interlude’) and consists of four striking totem pieces. Here too, we find the theatrical aspect that recurs in many of Guhur’s works. In combination with the raw but light stone, this results in beautiful designs that are monumental, but with the necessary refinement. Guhur chose Alabastrino travertine by Les Ateliers Saint-Jacques, that has been edited by gallery Kolkhoze. Each piece is available in a limited edition of twelve.
Again, Kolkhoze shows that they have an eye for special works. This collection feels robust, but at the same time pays attention to every detail. We have no doubt that many will be attracted to these unique pieces that are particularly close to art.
