The recent total renovation of Obumex is located on the Belgian coast, in Knokke. The owners bought the house a few years ago and have now completely renovated it. For the interior renovation, they counted on interior design expert Obumex in collaboration with the in-house architect Nick Fastré, an architect with a passion for modern sculptural art. The idea is that the owners will move into the house to spend time with their family, where relatives can come and visit them in their garden with its tall trees and yet not be far from the city centre.
The TV corner was kept very dark on purpose, so there was a maximal effort to relax.
As soon as you enter the house, you are immediately immersed in its style. An absolute, luxurious and elaborate finish, an oasis of peace and a wealth of materials overwhelm you and make your mouth water. The floor in the hall is an Italian natural stone called Noir Saint Laurent (marble) in a sweet finish. In addition, the doors and stairs in burnt oak veneer have a bronzed brass finish. Furthermore, the sliding doors to the kitchen and the lounge are also finished in the same burnt oak veneer with a high gloss, which looks very luxurious. On the ground floor, on one side of the large entrance hall, you have the kitchen and dining area and, on the other side, the TV corner, the lounge and the custom-made desk. The TV corner was deliberately kept very dark in order to maximise the feeling of tranquillity. In contrast to the TV corner, the desk offers a view of the side of the garden, so as not to be too distracted. In the lounge, the Mortex fireplace wall, together with the chosen natural stone, forms a single line with the materials in the corridor. The rough architecture is feminised here through the use of round shapes and the eye-catching artwork on the plinth. The wall of this room, again, has a luxurious finish and is completely in Obumex style because of the relief in the oak veneer. The custom-made desk made of a shiny bronze lacquer and walnut was also designed by the furniture expert. The bronze handles complete the design. The TV corner aspires to exude ultimate cosiness thanks to the veneer ceiling with various lighting elements. Finally, the seating area has panelling with relief in a solid burnt oak veneer.
This project shows once again the eye for aesthetics and functionality of the design that Obumex is known for. Want to know more about this project? Read the full article in Imagicasa Autumn 2021.
