- Image creation
Each image counts for Pilar Shoots, the name behind photographer Thibault Debaene. As partner of Imagicasa he has already proven his value in the business multiple times. Recently, he captured a new realisation of interior specialist De Maatwerker, called project DL. To good custom, he succeeded in filtering the spaces through his abstractly tinted vision and bringing the best sides of the result to the fore.
In each commission it is essential to clearly map out the structure of a home to the spectator. Since the entrance of this property immediately gives way to the kitchen, Pilar Shoots ensured that you cannot miss the central character of this space when looking at the pictures. It is not exaggerated to say that you are at the heart of the home here, because thanks to an open floor plan the kitchen is to a large degree connected to the dining and living areas. Vertical slats function as a divider with the dining table, but because of the different spacings, the distinction is not too harsh. Next to this, there are horizontal, heavy shelves in powder-coated metal that develop a playful accent, as well as the niches that create extra dimension. A fun fact is that you can choose from two sitting areas in this project: one at the street side with a television, and one that looks out on the garden. Both have their own charm and, together, they answer to different needs. The big windows of the seating spot at the back allow a soft transition to the outdoor area. Moreover, you will see several round contours in this space, which forms a clear difference with the rest of the house. The residents indicated cosiness as one of their most prominent wishes, so the interior was mostly aligned with this. The photographer was able to capture this atmosphere as clearly as possible.
Both the large-scale structure and the rather discrete details are given the necessary attention
Naturally, the materials and the colours also served to enhance the cosy feeling. Chestnut wood veneer brings an apparent warmth to the design, and the large portion of light incidence meant that the home is strong enough to work with an entirely dark wall, seeing that this material was applied to the whole backwall of the kitchen. Natural stone in travertine joins the palette, as do the accents in powder-coated metal. In the bedroom, your attention quickly goes out to the connection with the ensuite bathroom, where smaller elements in wood create a careful detail. Here, you experience the same warmth as elsewhere, which is also the result of using the same stone for the bath as for the kitchen island. What strikes us in the totality of the project is the low barrier with which you can imagine your own life in this home. By immortalising the essence of the interior design and the architecture, carried out by Architektenburo, on camera, the photographer brings the persuasion of this project to your own home. Both the large-scale structure of the property and the rather discrete details he gives all the necessary attention. Pilar Shoots was the ideal party to photograph project DL. With eye for the line proportions of the design he captured all the assets in a beautiful way. Once again, he confirms the importance of a bright observer that can transform a home into an impressive series of images; a habit that he will no doubt continue.
