Your home is only as good as your kitchen. The Swedish Nordiska Kök can prove this with their custom designs and harmonious quality. Without exceptions, the firm always delivers pure kitchens. Today, we bring to you a small selection of their best projects and inspiring collaborations to give you a clear idea of what they are capable of.
What do you think of a Scandinavian design with Asian influences? The Feng Shui Kitchen is a cross-over between Nordiska Kök and interior designer Alexandra Ogonowski, with respectively a modern canvas and a traditional aesthetic as result. Here, the star is without a doubt the island, considering that it is both the functional centre and a place of social gatherings. It is interesting that the piece consists of two levels: the height of a bar and the comfort of a classical kitchen are both present. Moreover, Japanese teppanyaki hobs played an important role, because they ensured a lasting source of inspiration. Concerning colours, we are mainly focused on the symbiosis between the cool grey of the cupboards and the warm hue of the omnipresent dark wood. The end product has a clear harmony, and not only when it comes to the colour palette. Towards the surrounding spaces the kitchen was likewise designed with an eye for balance. The open floor plan easily flows into the living- and dining area. Within the same line of thought as the preceding grey, we are happy to continue with the Nordic Design Kitchen; a design where light colours converge with a marble worktop. Here, you arrive in a kitchen where minimalism is the foundation on which the entire concept rests. Hidden handles, delicate details, and a functional character lead the way. Since it concerns an apartment, there was only limited space to work with. After a total renovation, however, the result should definitely be seen. Next to this, the oak parquet was specifically treated to have a soft grey tone in order to perfectly match the kitchen design. At the same time, the lines in the marble create welcome interruptions in the plain surfaces. Simplicity and expression are juxtaposed in a context of an alluring timelessness, and sophisticated bar stools complete the beautiful picture.
A kitchen is more than a place to cook
The Swedish interior stylist Daniella Witte also engaged in a successful collaboration with the company. Here, a pure design was combined with powdery tones and a convivial feel. The Villa Witte Kitchen is, as it were, the ultimate fusion of two artistic philosophies that were happy to be united in a common melody. Minimalistic design leads the way, while a warm undertone continues to invite. A strong kitchen concept is primarily rooted in the layout. Namely, it was essential to place the kitchen in a considerate position, and in this case the best option was to create a middle point between the living area, the dining area, and the patio. Therefore, it is no surprise that this kitchen is the lively heart of the home. The team was simultaneously able to conserve a calm atmosphere by, among others, incorporating a concrete worktop. By painting the walls in a chalk tone, the kitchen was yet given an inviting and soft appearance.
