The power of simplicity can transcend everything. The project that we present to you here is a fitting example of this. Nothing is superfluous in Walnut House of Adam Kane Architects and, therefore, everything is important.
In 2015, Adam Kane founded his eponymous architect studio. Adam Kane Architects operates from Melbourne, Australia and mainly focuses on the architecture and the interior design of singular residential projects. Together with his team, Kane consistently aims to fulfil the client’s needs and wishes, irrelevant of the scale, the location or the budget of the project. Despite the unique character of each customer and each design, Kane always ensures that the coherence between the architecture, the interior and the landscape is of the highest standard.
Symmetry is a characterising power throughout the entire design.
In the rural enclave of Daylesford, Melbourne stands Walnut House. This name was not chosen at random, because there is a prominent walnut tree on the property. The denomination of the house refers to the beautiful tree itself and the connection with nature that the building engages in. From the moment that you enter the front door, you are embraced by a feeling of calmness. It is not in vain that Walnut House was designed as an idyllic escape from the hectic city. In this case, the tranquillity is not only in the location and the environment, but also in the mildness that is included into the architecture and the interior. Moreover, through the several openings you look out on the Botanical Gardens at the back of the house. Symmetry is a characterising power throughout the entire design. You may also notice this being the case with the outside, which is made out of stained ash wood. The façade forms are invisibly connected, which creates a game of scaling. Inside, the arched ceilings catch the attention. The colour palette stays within neutral tones and, consequently, the nearby greenery comes to the fore. The straightforward form has an inviting effect that incites to gather company. Furthermore, the spacious feeling in the rooms inspires the experience of the architecture.
In Walnut House, a special warmth rests that expresses itself in the material and the tone that is being set. At the same time, Adam Kane Architects ensures that the home establishes an interaction with the surroundings through form and ambience. At Imagicasa, we remember, above all, the beautiful lines of the design and the simplicity that it carries.
