Hotel Joaquin is an accommodation for adventurous travellers who want more than just a comfortable overnight stay. The resort offers an experience that encourages every guest to become acquainted with the local culture and history.
Studio Robert McKinley is known for its beautiful hospitality design. Founder and owner Robert McKinley has already designed the interior of hotels like The Hall, Marion, Golbar and so on. The ultimate goal that the studio strives to achieve on a daily basis is to create designs that help people escape from the rut of everyday life. Places where the visitor can relax and enjoy.
Each room is designed in an individual style.
In 2016, Auric Road purchased the dilapidated motel The Motor Inn Laguna Beach. The building was stripped and underwent a complete renovation. In 2018, the project Hotel Joaquin, a cosy resort in Laguna Beach, was completed. The name was chosen because of the historical context of the area, it was built in the former Rancho San Joaquin, now Orange County. The hotel has twenty-two rooms and a restaurant called Saline, which serves meals all day. Saline is the hotel's biggest asset. Visitors can try new flavour combinations or enjoy the Mediterranean classics. The name references the nearby salty ocean. McKinley was inspired by the island culture of Saint-Barthélemy, the 1950's southern Californian beach culture and the Mediterranean coast. The interior is decorated in a stylish and at the same time playful way. Each room is designed in an individual style with unique vintage accents, furniture and decoration. Hotel Joaquin follows a colour palette inspired by the beach: sandy shades of brown, whites reminiscent of beach towels, soft green representing the sea and dark natural stone referring to the pointy rocks glistening in the sun. The rooms have a nonchalant, convivial atmosphere that also exudes refinement thanks to the quality materials used. In Hotel Joaquin you do not experience a clean, stern hotel atmosphere, but rather a cosy gathering of like-minded people. Images courtesy of Hotel Joaquin
