Contemporary farmhouse style combined with austere rural accents. That is how Tim Schauwvlieghe describes this recent realisation by Elbeko. He is not only co-manager and construction advisor at the East-Flanders total contractor, but also owner of this unique family home.
For regular readers of Imagicasa, Elbeko is certainly no stranger. We have featured creations by this construction company from Zele on several occasions. High quality and personality are central to their creations. This design, too, is a beautiful addition to their portfolio and the ultimate proof of their craftsmanship and professionalism. This family home in a quiet location within cycling distance of Ghent is also a special project for Elbeko. Tim Schauwvlieghe, the client, describes the style of the house as a combination of a contemporary farmhouse on the rather closed front façade and austere rural on the rear façade with large windows.
It became a light, cosy home with low-maintenance materials.
Strong and durable materials certainly play a leading role in this project. Since the new roof tiles are hand-made, for example, there are irregularities in the shape, which gives some extra character. Between the dining area and the sitting area, we can also see a recovered old beam that gives the house a rural touch in an elegant way. The architect, Anneleen Windey, describes both the interior and the exterior of the house as rural modern. In total, the house offers a habitable surface of about 340 square metres. In addition to the kitchen, laundry and storage room, dining room and sitting area on the ground floor, there are also three bedrooms, a bathroom, shower room, indoor garage with cloakroom and a cellar. Now that the client and his family have moved into their new home, they can enjoy it on a daily basis. The interior also fully meets the desire to be able to relax here. It became a light, cosy house with low-maintenance materials. In the summer, it is lovely to eat under the covered terrace. In rainy weather, the sitting area with the fireplace is very inviting. After a busy day, the bathroom with sauna and large shower is particularly relaxing. The colour and material palette certainly also contributes to creating a warm and relaxing environment. Many earthy tones were chosen, as well as parquet and lime paint in some of the central rooms. The latter has many advantages, because it radiates a lot of warm atmosphere while the space needs little decoration. Furthermore, a sixty-by-sixty-centimetre ceramic floor tile was chosen for the functional rooms, and the natural stone in the kitchen and bathroom is a real eye-catcher. We can certainly believe that the owners will come to rest here and will enjoy this attractive newly built home for many years to come. Another magnificent achievement by Elbeko!
