Earlier, Imagicasa wrote about up-and-coming talent Yana Prydalna, an interior designer who is making a name for herself with her minimalist and wabi-sabi style. Her project House in the Poland also enjoys this style. In this family house, earth tones were used in combination with wood to create comfortable spaces.
Under the name Yana Prydalna Interiors, the interior designer designs complete interiors together with her team. They haven't been doing this for a long time yet, the designer tells us, as the studio was only established in the spring of 2020. With each project, an interior concept is created in a rural style with a tendency towards minimalism. ‘I like to use furniture with outdated elements or cracks,’ says the designer. According to her, furniture and materials should have a soul. The wabi-sabi style is therefore an important constant throughout her designs. Wabi-sabi is a Japanese philosophy that focuses on imperfection. This philosophy is being increasingly integrated into contemporary interior design.
Furniture and materials should have a soul.
‘For some, our projects may seem too dark or contrasting, but that's just the line through our designs,’ says the designer. ‘Our interiors are not dark, but deep.’ Indoors, the interior designer rarely works with colour. 'We believe that by not using an accumulation of different shades, we create the basis for human life.’ Through natural materials and shades, the interior studio aims to bring peace of mind - an important concept throughout their interior designs - into every interior. This is no different for their project House in the Poland, a two-storey house in Poland, developed for a private client: a family living near a lake. The main task was to create comfortable spaces through the use of earth tones. These light beige colours were effortlessly combined with delicate wood throughout the interior. An important intervention within the house was to divide an empty space into three zones without using overly complicated techniques. The first zone is the kitchen, which is divided by a functional cooking island. The texture of the stone on the floor smoothly transitions to the cooking island. The second zone is a dining room with a round table located in the centre. This table was an important concept for the client. It would allow possible guests to gather in the dining room, as a symbol of attracting wealth and positive energy. In the third zone, a living room was created, with a sofa that extends on two sides. Once again, Yana Prydalna Interiors succeeded in transforming a lakeside residence into a cosy and comfortable family home in its typical rustic and wabi-sabi style.
