With their West Flemish roots and a history dating back to the 16th century, the Masureel family carries with them a rich cultural heritage. This heritage forms the basis of their mission: to create artful, artisanal and nature-respecting collections. Their creations are inspired by an extensive archive of historical wallpapers and fabrics, complemented by an impressive collection of modern and contemporary art. Each Masureel brand is informed by a rich archive of textile designs and an extensive art collection. From the initial design to the finished product, everything is made in-house. Their designers' inexhaustible creative drive and constant pursuit of the latest technologies ensure that Masureel continues to innovate and excel in colour, design and texture.
Since the 16th century, the Masureel family has been rooted in the beautiful West Flemish village of Hulste. Already in the 19th century, the family was active in the flax industry to produce linen, and in the early 20th century, the textile weaving mill was established. Fifty years later, in the 1980s, Masureel International saw the light of day under the leadership of Guy Verstraete. Enter a world where the opulent elegance of Bridgerton meets the dream home of an Instagram influencer. Where the grandeur of historic high society balls merges seamlessly with contemporary chic. Immerse yourself in an atmosphere of history and innovation and create a luxurious haven where every texture and pattern tells a captivating story.
Think sumptuous velvet fabrics, intricate floral patterns and stately wooden panels... This luxurious style, once reserved for castles, has been updated and reinvented for today's modern lofts. Rhapsody's designs capture the essence of an aristocratic aesthetic that combines the opulence and grandeur of stately mansions with a modern twist. The nobility's typical outdoor activities inspire Rhapsody's colour palette, with classics such as hunting green, deep burgundy and warm beige. Cosy autumn colours are enhanced with accents of saffron, pistachio and lime. A touch of royal purple, light blue and lichen green embellish the palette. Rhapsody reflects the trend of mixing old and new, like sipping Earl Grey tea from a vintage porcelain cup while scrolling through your iPhone: timeless, yet totally contemporary.

The floral jacquard pattern is at the heart of the Rhapsody collection. The Idilia wallpaper design embodies a classic castle-like flower. Masureel's creation team reinvented the original from old archives by hand repainting it. The surprising colour combinations are contemporary but feel familiar, as if this drawing has always existed this way. In Oackly, you discover the veins of a tree appearing or fading depending on the play of light. The detailed fine wood layers add dimension and bring sophistication to the colour-on-colour wallpaper design. Inspired by traditional wood panelling, this flowing design fills the wall with history, albeit in the form of a bold wave. The matt aspect of the woody background in Flow contrasts with shiny accent looks in copper and brass, adding to the opulent ambience of this wallpaper.
Brody is a classic stripe, but the very matt finish gives the design an absolutely modern look. The clean straight lines, colour on colour with light or contrasting deep shades, are severe but beautiful. Can you imagine former aristocratic country life? The nobility strolling through the hills and forests around the castle in inappropriate shoes or clothing.... This idea is the inspiration for Munro. In this design, you will recognise small hills or pine scales, and the thicker hand-drawn lines invite you to touch this innovative wallpaper.
To the much-loved plain Telis range, they have added some super-trendy colours. The spectacular linen look now features subtle and inviting shades such as glass, creamy peach and soft lime, as well as bold colours that make a statement, such as warm honey, stylish wine and deep forest colours. The velvety Cheviot design is a striking panoramic wallpaper. The retro look and playful elements combined with a touch of drama are a real eye-catcher. From dining room to grand hall, this room-high design adds a regal touch to your interior. Somerset is a creative reinterpretation of the Idilia design: an impressive and trendy floral explosion with powerful colours. Bigger, better and more vibrant. Be inspired by Masureel's timeless elegance and innovation, where age-old craftsmanship and modern creativity come together to create unique and luxurious interiors. Images courtesy of Masureel
