- Interior
Warm brown wood, clean lines and an elegant design define this beautiful project by Britt Thomas. With a neutral colour palette and natural materials, the Belgian interior designer created a stylish and cosy home on the coast.
Britt Thomas graduated from Sint-Lucas in Brussels. Her interest in interior architecture eventually grew into a profession and a passion and so she founded her own interior design studio in Bruges in 2014. Britt realises with her own style and design language the wishes and taste of the customer. Her projects are highly personalised and are always custom designed. She sees an interior, whether it concerns a house, office, shop or restaurant, as an extension of the owner, his lifestyle and experiences. You can call upon Britt Thomas for furniture advice as well as a total concept of a completely new interior for your home. In her unique and contemporary projects the designer searches – and finds – the perfect balance between material, light, space and proportions. The Edge is one of Britt Thomas' beautiful realisations. It is a seaside apartment that was completely renovated at the request of the owners' grandchildren. After 40 years it was high time to chase a breath of fresh air through their grandparents' home. Britt transformed the apartment into an oasis of tranquillity with a lot of emotional value.
Britt Thomas creates a warm and stylish apartment on the coast
One of the most important requirements was that the living room and kitchen had to be made into one large open space. In this way it became a beautiful connected living space with a stunning view of the sea. This space became the focus of the project because it would serve to be together with family. ‘After a day on the beach, enjoying an aperitif at the bar area while the children sit on the couch. That's the feeling they were looking for,’ says Britt. The apartment was shrouded in a simple neutral colour and material palette, with wood and natural stone as the main thread. A combination that recurs in many of Britt's projects. ‘Such repetition in the use of materials creates a serene unity, a balanced interior with subtle detailing.’ Shades of grey, brown and beige create tranquillity and elegance. A few simple, clean black lines such as in the lighting, taps and door and window frames create a beautiful and refined detail. The result here is as always balanced, elegant and simple with a subtle, timeless and high-end interior. www.brittthomas.be
