Today, we would like to introduce you to Gabriel Fabra Pérez, an architect and 3D artist from Valencia. He created some beautiful visualisations, which together form the project Coastal Retreat. It became a design in Mediterranean, rustic style, mixed with minimalist and contemporary elements.
Most of the projects of architect and 3D artist Gabriel Fabra are personal works, created with the intention of practising as a 3D artist and expressing ideas or concepts that he would like to explore. The Coastal Retreat project is no different.
The minimalism was carried through in the materials.
The design wanted to explore the style of Mediterranean homes with a rustic touch, with furniture integrated into the architecture. He then wanted to combine that rustic style with a more minimalist and contemporary look. ‘One of the biggest challenges in the project was to maintain the clean atmosphere,’ we hear from the designer and 3D artist. It was important that the objects in the kitchen did not stand out too much. ‘I tried to place the right elements to give the kitchen a lived-in look, without distracting you from the forms that are present.’
The minimalism was carried through in the materials. Fabra opted for concrete and a white plaster base, complemented by small accents in recycled wood. He also did not want to introduce too many metal elements and the carpentry and lighting had to remain as hidden as possible. ‘There is no doubt that this kind of construction has great beauty. I have always admired the different solutions they offer for one space. I think we can all learn from them and this project has certainly helped me learn a lot,’ concludes the designer.
