When a restaurant not only offers delicious food, but also gives you a nice interior experience, that is a true added value. We’re taking you to Shenzhen, China, where RooMoo Design Studio recently designed the interior of a new bistro. Behind the warm interior, there is a well-thought-out philosophy.
Situated in Coco Park in Shenzhen, we find B3. The name is derived from the concept: brunch, bistro and bar. Time is the overarching concept of this bistro, which is reflected everywhere. How can we materialise that abstract idea of 'time' and incorporate it into architecture? That was the big question the design studio asked itself, and the result can be called impressive, to say the least.
Specifically, three waves symbolise the fluctuations of time and space. The first wave, composed of a metal partition, is located outside and offers guests a warm welcome. The wave is composed of several stainless-steel plates that play with a mirror effect and colour. The outside breeze on the metal pieces gives the illusion that the wave is in motion. The second wave is an extension of the first and runs across the ceiling above the bar area and kitchen window. The small mirror, made of pieces of stainless steel, offers a nice effect during the day and at night, enhanced by LED lights at night. Finally, the third wave is located above the dining area. Below this wave, we find a flat surface with no bricks or metal pieces, indicating the stopping of time. In this recess space, guests can quietly enjoy their evening.

The design studio also wanted to create an interior that would match the style of the kitchen in terms of materials, textures and colours. The mirrors combined with the rough, yet warm surfaces of the bricks and the orange leather of the sofas create exciting textures and patterns. The bar is at the centre, inviting you to a cosy drink. It also forms a dividing element between the dining area and the kitchen and is very functional while serving food and drinks.
Besides being a pleasure for the eye, this interior also has an interesting story that completely fits the bistro. A dinner here is therefore quite an experience, with something new to be noticed every time. Want to get enchanted by more impressive projects and inspiring architecture?
