With their Case Study projects, Keiji Ashizawa Design aims to create a cocoon of calm and warmth in the middle of the busy city. In this Hiroo Residence, the Japanese studio designed a home that is the epitome of minimalism and elegance, where calmness speaks from every detail.
Keiji Ashizawa Design was founded in 2005 by the interior designer of the same name. Based in Tokyo, the studio designs serene overall spaces that emphasise craftsmanship. Their vision focuses on using local, natural materials and can be summed up under the motto 'Honest Design'. The result is always a calm atmosphere with inspiring tactility. This is the intention of each Karimoku Case Study space created by the studio, which serve as a kind of model home for urban projects.
The dining chairs by Norm Architects bring rhythm and a homely feel to the large dining area
Together with Karimoku, Keiji Ashizawa Design's team worked on the walls, interior windows, kitchen, and cabinets to enhance the thermal environment. The dining chairs were created by Danish design and interior design studio Norm Architects. The result is a wooden chair woven with paper cord, whose light design is inspired by Shaker furniture. It brings rhythm and a homely feel to the large dining area. In the hall and living room, we find artworks by Sara Martinsen and Atelier Plateau, which were designed in collaboration with Karimoku. The wooden pieces are the perfect finishing touch to the minimalist, harmonious interior. The pendant lamp in the living area was custom-made as well, to bring the soft light from the living room to the dining area, along with the wooden speakers created together with DYNAUDIO. Beautiful collaborations lead to a minimalist interior that prioritises quality and comfort. This Case Study space, with its warm elegance, can charm us once again. We are already eagerly awaiting more work by Keiji Ashizawa Design!
