Equipo de Arquitectura develops ideas of the future in the form of architecture. In this project, they connected this mission to an important target audience: young children. With this childcare centre, they have integrated nature and created an environment that promotes and enriches the early quality of life.
The work of Equipo de Arquitectura always aims to form a solution to architectural problems. By never losing sight of the importance of experimentation, the team succeeds in helping to solve contemporary questions. For this reason, they highly value technological precision, among others. In the case of this childcare centre in Paraguay, they mainly did this through an ecological perspective. The goal was to deliver a design that influences future generations in a direct way. The final building is an introspective construction that protects the events inside. Earth volumes were placed on the exterior and work as some sort of buffer between the happenings inside and the world outside. Concerning the layout, the centre consists of four spaces, namely two large classrooms that are both divided in two. Next to this, there is a dining area and an administrative space.
With this childcare centre, Equipo de Arquitectura shows that they are a studio that is committed to future generations.
Not only the use of earth points to Equipo de Arquitectura’s ecological mission; they have also added other climate-conscious elements. For example, crossventilation and green roofs were installed. Adequate sunlight and materials with a low impact on the environment are present as well. Throughout the entire project, it is clear that the design is intended to make a connection with the surroundings. The central patio helps immensely with this. Here the children spend their breaks and the different ages can be in contact with one another. In this project, architecture is a clear meeting between matter, light, nature, and spatiality. Thanks to the sunny climate, the colour of the building is extra highlighted and the place is a stimulating environment for young minds. Furthermore, the use of earth was a deliberate choice since this material is linked to our experience of textures, colours, and memories. With this childcare centre, Equipo de Arquitectura shows that they are a studio that is committed to future generations. By designing a project that also wants to make a positive impact on the climate, they serve a noble cause with several benefits. We look forward to seeing which architectural concepts they will elaborate in the future with equal ambition.
