In addition to their interior designs, Supaform Studio is also known for its furniture. In both design categories you will find their characteristic style: they are inspired by different disciplines such as painting, sculpture and architecture. In this way, they create unusual, visionary spaces and pieces. This unique apartment in Moscow is also a beautiful representation of their work.
The Supaform Studio was founded by Maxim Scherbakov in St. Petersburg, Russia. The studio always thinks between different disciplines and combines an essential design with a strong use of colour.
This apartment in Moscow almost looks like a set or a drawing, but it is indeed a real interior. The minimalist space got, as the studio itself describes it, a Memphis-like look. The Memphis Design Movement or Memphis Group was an Italian group of interior designers from the eighties founded by Ettore Sottsass. They resisted the rigid functional rules of Modernism and drew inspiration from Pop Art and Art Deco. In this apartment we find the colours and shapes that were so popular in that idiosyncratic movement.

The typical shapes and strong colours that the studio is all too happy to use come to the fore here as well. In the living space, the designers opted for a neutral floor in earthy tones in order to ground the space and make the other bright colours stand out. In the kitchen, the 'Klein' blue wall and door jump out immediately. The mustard coloured wall of the kitchen is regularly used in other rooms, but here it is contrasted even more by the green floor. Throughout the apartment Supaform used colour to highlight certain elements. In this way, boundaries and blocks were created that can enter into dialogue with each other.
In addition to colour, furniture, almost all of which has geometric forms here, also plays an important role. Classic and antique forms are combined with more modern and almost Brutalist ones.
