We achieve more when working together than alone, and this rebuilt farmhouse is an ideal example of that. The architecture was taken care of by ar-architecten, whereas Frederic Kielemoes and Studio Verde were respectively responsible for the interior and the outdoor environment. From the start, all three parties collaborated intensively in order to provide the client with a result that came as close to his expectations as possible.
This old farmhouse was renovated and expanded to become a place where you can relax and experience a lasting vacation feeling. Both rustic and modern architecture could charm the client, so our partner ar-architecten searched for a timeless middle ground that combines the two in a controlled manner. Characterising for this project is the fact that this was a process of consulting and working together from the very start. Frederic Kielemoes, also our partner, designed an interior that fully aligns with the vision of ar-architecten, and vice versa. The outdoor space was the responsibility of Studio Verde and enjoyed as much attention as the house itself. 
A timeless middle ground that combines the two in a controlled manner.
Throughout the entire project, grateful use was made of the present level differences by considering them beneficial characteristics. Furthermore, for the team of architects it was essential to maintain a balance between, on the one hand, open and closed spaces, and horizontal and vertical lines on the other. They succeeded in this without any trouble. Concerning the materials, they went a rather classic route, which they gave a modern interpretation in the context of the house. Think, for example, of brick with a washed-out cement joint, steel windows, and thatch.
By maximally focusing on an interactive methodology, ar-architecten, Frederic Kielemoes, and Studio Verde succeeded in elevating this farmhouse to a higher level. Rustic and modern meet here in a balanced architecture that is completely what the client had in mind.
