In Calderone Townhouse, architect Elizabeth Roberts created an original eclectic mix in which each room was given its own character, yet still forms a beautiful, harmonious whole with the entire home.
Elizabeth Roberts Architects (ERA) is an architecture and design studio based in Brooklyn, New York. The firm was founded and is led by architect Elizabeth Roberts. In her projects, she brings original, often historic, elements to the fore, creating an interesting, unique and relaxed aesthetic. ERA always works closely with the client to create personalised spaces that reflect the residents. ‘Architecture, design and objects receive equal attention and care, and are brought together in a way that feels natural and authentic,’ we hear.

Claderone Townhouse is one of ERA's beautiful projects where that touch of history permeates and is celebrated in harmony with contemporary elements. The house is located in Cobble Hill, Brooklyn, and was realised in collaboration with Athena Calderone, interior designer and editor of the lifestyle and design platform Eyeswoon. The extra width of the house provided a unique opportunity for an L-shaped kitchen with an enclosed terrace and a built-in writing desk. In the large, open kitchen, the designers chose a beautiful natural stone, and throughout the house we find fine and unexpected works of art. The rooms in the house flow into each other and have the same basic aesthetics, yet each has its own character. For example, the library has dramatic dark blue plaster walls. The house has been furnished with an eclectic mix of vintage pieces, which makes for an original whole.
