On September 10th we celebrate the birthday of an absolute legend: Karl Lagerfeld. He would have turned 86 this year and to celebrate this genius, we have chosen this publication as our highlighted book of the week. The designer is an inspiration far beyond the world of fashion and he had an opinion about everything, including design, books and what luxury is.
The World According to Karl (Thames & Hudson)
Earlier this year we sadly had to say goodbye to Karl Lagerfeld. However, the influential designer was not only known for what he created for fashion houses like Chloé, Chanel and his own brand, his statements also traveled around the world. Whether it was about fashion, art, politics or love, he always knew what to say. For example: "My autobiography? I don't have to write it, I’m living it." And so, this book is the best way to keep Karl alive and who knows, you might even learn something from all his wisdom!
“The room is dead when there are no books.”
It may seem like an unusual choice as our 'book of the week', but not when you know that books were also very important for Karl Lagerfeld. At some point he would have said the following: "Buying books is a real disease of mine, but I don't want to be cured." We also fully agree with the following statement of him: "I cannot live without books. The room is dead if there are no books." And so, Karl Lagerfeld is still very much alive in his maxims and if you want to bring some more life to your living room, get a copy of this funny, informative book that the fashion icon himself gave his approval on before his death.
