Built as a warehouse in 1896 and redesigned in the 1970s as lofts where artists like Dan Flavin and Andy Warhol lived and worked, 67 Vestry in the New York TriBeCa neighbourhood has a rich history behind it. Now it is time for a new chapter.
After many other historic buildings and industrial buildings along the Hudson River had already been converted into beautiful lofts, it was now time for 67 Vestry to come back to life. Here we show the first images of what will soon be realised: thirteen modern residences, inspired by the past and an ode to the historic New York City, but also ready for the future.
Each residence enjoys a unique and breathtaking view of the Hudson and the New Jersey skyline.
The lofts will occupy half and full floors - they will range from three to four and six bedrooms - and there will also be communal facilities, such as the 15-metre swimming pool, a gym and a spa. The literal cherry on top is the the triplex penthouse with a beautiful outdoor space on top. Each residence of course enjoys a unique and breathtaking view of the Hudson and the New Jersey skyline. The refurbishment of the building is carried out by New York-based BP Architects, who are known for their work with historic buildings and thus honoured the history of 67 Vestry in their design. We are even more enthusiastic about the interior, which was envisioned by Gashot Studios. We already wrote about this New York-based interior design agency in our magazine and on our website. The images of the new lofts already look very promising. ’67 Vestry’s materials and colour palette explore the contrast between serene spaces with elemental materials and clean geometries to create a design that celebrates the freedom, simplicity and creativity at the heart of loft living,’ project developer Iliad Realty Group explains.
The sophisticated modernism for which Gashot Studios is known also comes into its own here. The interior design studio created dynamic and elegant spaces that, based on their experience in the hospitality sector, are both practical and luxurious and exude an atmosphere of pure relaxation.
