- Interior
Displaying your products to the public in an appealing manner is a real challenge. In the case of Lo & Co we are talking about a micro mission, considering that it concerns a space which is no bigger than twenty square metres. The team of Alexander & Co knew how to handle this and succeeded in bringing out all the potential of the limited surface area.
In 2016, Arielle Lopresti and Teegan Cocchiaro decided to fuse their shared passion for luxury hardware and unique design into a creative collaboration, and that is how Lo & Co was born in Sydney, Australia. Since the beginning, it has been their mission to make interior accessories more exclusive and to highlight craftsmanship. Their products include, among others, handles, hooks, and door handles, and form a considerable collection that expands over time. Regarding material, they mainly swear by brass, and this in several colours. They sell products with a matt black finishing, but also other versions in white and bronze are available, for example. Next to this, you can expect a selection that consists of marble and travertine. It is therefore clear that they value materiality. Together with a no-nonsense design, their products result in qualitative details that transform a space into a completed concept.
For their newest showroom, they asked Alexander & Co for a functional interior that has the possibility to showcase their objects in an aesthetic but straightforward way. Less is more for the design studio, also in this project. That was not too big of a challenge in this case, as the limited surface asked for a balanced design where all superfluities are sent home. The island in walnut veneer is the central element in the space and is also the place where several products are showcased. In the display window, a few blocks of different heights are set up, on which a mixed selection of designs rests. Furthermore, a considerable number of pieces is put up on the wall. Thanks to the frames, the arrangements resemble abstract art. At the front of the space, large windows and a glass door allow welcome light to enter, which makes the room appear larger.
Like-minded colours and the texture of American oak
Designs like this prove that simplicity never has to equal boredom. The variety of freestanding furniture ensures interesting dimensions and creates an illusion of space. Regarding use of colour, they wisely stayed within beige and soft white hues; not only a good choice for a monochrome palette, but also an ambience that is perfectly aligned with the appearance of the selection. Furthermore, the lighting was finished in brass. To ensure that the like-minded colours are interrupted to the desirable degree, the team paid attention to texture as well. This led them to flooring consisting of limed American oak. A recurring element is the walnut veneer of the island in the centre, which reappears at the furthest wall in the form of an open bookcase.
All the decisions that the team made, turned out to be well though-out. The end result reminds of a modern, light cave that possesses precious gemstones and invites you to take a closer look. With elegance, serenity, and selectivity in mind, an interior was designed that is completely in line with the expectations and style of Lo & Co. The youthful passion of the company finds a resonance here that simultaneously exudes a convincing professionality.
