We found this beautiful retreat full of soft colours and natural materials and textures in sun-drenched Bali. The private home is the perfect reflection of its surroundings and the epitome of relaxed luxury.
This beautiful oasis in Bali is the private paradise of French fashion designer Magali Pascal. She designed the home with her husband, photographer Matt Neville, and they live there with their two children. The bohemian sophistication that Pascal is known for in her collections and style is also found in her home. You could describe it as relaxed luxury. With Paris as her hometown, Pascal was inspired by both French and Caribbean influences for the design.
Inspired by French and Caribbean architectural styles.
The house is very open and airy. The materials used are all natural, we see a lot of reed and wood. Because of this, there's a predominantly sober colour palette of beige, white and brown which emphasizes the natural aspect of the interior. ‘We were inspired by French and Caribbean architectural styles; open spaces, high ceilings and lots of white shutters,’ says Pascal. ‘I wanted to make sure our home was calming and neutral, with white spaces and wooden accents everywhere.’ Many pieces of furniture are designed by Pascal and Neville themselves. ‘We worked with local Balinese craftsmen, so everything is really custom made for our home.’ Most of the art hanging in the house are photographs Neville took from their travels together. Almost all of the works are in an abstract style with earthy tones which fits perfectly with the rest of the interior. Photographer: Tash Serena
