In times of COVID-19 everyone is disappointed that we couldn’t/can’t travel to some exotic destination. Because after a few months at home we are now pretty fed up with that same home. Fortunately, the lockdown cannot restrain our fantasy. On the contrary, several artists and designers have become more productive in the past six months. Yas is one of them. In response to the monotonous atmosphere of being at home, she designed a house on the beach. A place where she would like to spend quarantine, but which is unreachable. It is a kind of refuge in her mind that she brought to life with visualisation techniques and talent.
A warm, soft place to stay far away from the stress of the city.
House on the Beach consists of four images. The first image is an ethereal visualisation that shows a house on the rocks on the beach. The atmosphere is warm and a cool breeze seems to blow through the dunes at the foot of the rocks. The following image shows a living room consisting of two levels and with a glass wall facing the turquoise sea. The style of the house is austere, electronics seem to be missing or are carefully hidden in the thick clay walls. The third image is a visualisation of a beach chair on the dunes. This image speaks more about Yas’ dream than the architecture of the project. Finally, we see the image of a bathroom where you can look at the rough rocks and the ocean while showering.
Yas N. Vicente created a project that is remarkably remote, possibly as a protection against the virus, but also closer to nature. House on the Beach is the embodiment of what everyone wants right now: a warm, soft place to stay far away from the stress of the city.
