What began in 1956 as Meubelen Devriese has grown into a name synonymous with refined interior craftsmanship. Under the leadership of Roger Devriese, the family business initially focused on constructing sofa shells and frames. That technical foundation laid the groundwork for a crafts ethos that endures to this day.
When his son Wim Devriese joined the company in 1988, the focus gradually shifted towards bespoke interiors. Working methods evolved, the machinery expanded, and the workshop became a place where ideas took shape in wood, textiles, and detail. The move in 2006 to a larger site in Ruddervoorde marked a new chapter: more room for precision, more space for creation. In 2023, the third generation took the helm. Wim’s son, Jan Devriese, now leads the business alongside his partner Charles Descheemaeker. Operating under the name Devriese Interieurmaekers, the duo builds on a long tradition of custom craftsmanship while also looking resolutely forward. The careful attention to material selection and finish remains ever-present. What is new is the interaction with architects, designers, and clients. Every project starts in dialogue, grounded in mutual trust in each other’s expertise.
The evolved company caters to those with high expectations, and to those who see form and function as inseparable. By combining advanced technology with manual finishing, ideas are refined down to the finest detail. No surface is banal, no transition coincidental. Every material is handled with respect for its unique character.
