Just like every year, this month's Milan Design Week featured many high-end brands with their luxurious concepts. The famous luxury brand Versace was also present with a very special collection. They didn't present a new collection of shoes, fashion or perfume – which is probably the first thing you think of when you hear Versace – but a series of objects and furniture items with a focus on outdoor pieces. This is the first time that the brand has integrated outdoor furniture into a home collection.
The Versace Home Collection is inspired by mythology and pop culture. This is noticeable in the designs with Medusa heads, some names of the pieces: Pop Medusa, Medusa, Jungle, Rhapsody and Logomania and the neon colours that were used. The Medusa has always been an iconic element in Versace's identity, so it had to be present. The bright colours refer to pop culture and the latest trends of 2019. This perhaps strange combination of sources of inspiration led to an eccentric, playful collection.
"Versace lives by through breaking colour and pattern rules and promoting a sense of confidence and glamour." - Sasha Bikoff
As interior designer Sasha Bikoff says: "Versace lives through breaking rules of colour and pattern and promoting a sense of confidence and glamour." With this collection, Versace certainly breaks through the standard rules and the luxury brand surprised us once again with nerve and talent.
