- Interior
The SAR apartment, located in the heart of Powiśle in Warsaw, was designed for a young family and covers 150 m² in a luxurious complex near the Wisla River and surrounded by historic parks. The property comprises a master suite with bedroom, walk-in wardrobe and bathroom, a second bedroom, a guest bathroom, toilet, utility room and a living room that opens directly onto the park, allowing the indoors and outdoors to flow seamlessly into one another.
The project was designed by Oskar Firek Architect, whose studio is known for its approach in which architecture and interior design come together seamlessly. With an eye for detail, choice of materials and lighting, the studio creates interiors that are both elegant and functional. In this project, Oskar Firek's approach translates into a home in which custom-made furniture, textures, art and daylight have been carefully composed into a harmonious whole that supports and enriches the family's daily life. The interior is characterised by a subdued, natural palette and carefully selected material compositions. Warm shades of oak, natural stone, sand texture on the walls and textured surfaces create a harmonious whole, enhanced by the proportions of the spaces and the subtle play of light. Large windows connect the living spaces with the surrounding greenery and bring in soft daylight, while transparent curtains ensure privacy without limiting the spatial experience.
Much of the furniture was custom designed by the studio, including a console with seating at the entrance, a steel brutalist sideboard, coffee table, dining table and built-in desks. Each piece has been designed with precision and proportion, so that all elements form a visually and functionally coherent whole. In the kitchen and bathrooms, expressive stone with powerful veins is combined with calm wooden surfaces, creating rhythm and dynamism without overloading the interior.
'The continuity of materials and colours creates a sense of calm and cohesion'
The flat contains carefully selected design pieces, such as a Henge lamp above the dining table, Gubi chairs, an Audo Copenhagen armchair, a side table from UNISM.STORE and a sofa from BoConcept. In the private areas, a chair by Tomasz Omachel and a Slovakian brutalist vintage armchair from the 1970s, among other things, emphasise the sophistication of the interior. Art plays an integral role in the home: sculptures by Paweł Jach and paintings by Tomek Opaliński, Wojciech Firek, Grzegorz Worpus and Marina Arias add layers of meaning and personal expression. The continuity of materials and tones in the private areas creates calm and cohesion, while built-in cupboards and integrated furniture promote order and efficiency.
Bathrooms are designed as intimate, sculptural spaces where the tactility of stone and wood meets carefully planned lighting, creating a serene, luxurious experience. The result is a home that combines tranquillity, elegance and attention to detail, where every space feels like a carefully composed whole.
