In the world of architecture and construction, there are some names that excel in their craftsmanship. Vlassak-Verhulst is one such. But behind that name is much more than just building works. It is a story of dedication, passion and expertise that has marked the landscapes of Flanders and the Netherlands for five decades.
It all started in the small village of Schilde, where Paul Verhulst, a young architecture student, and Koen Vlassak, a talented builder, found each other. What began as a modest collaboration grew into one of the leading construction companies in the region. Vlassak-Verhulst's strength lies not only in the craftsmanship of its founders, but also in their ability to build a team that shares the same passion and dedication. Over the years, the company has built a client base that reflects entrepreneurial Flanders and the Netherlands, making their reputation synonymous with quality and excellence. As time passed, the founders' ideas grew apart, but that did not mean the end of Vlassak-Verhulst. Verhulst continued under his own steam, building on the foundations he had laid with Koen. And when the time came for reinforcement, his son Maxime joined the company, continuing the tradition of craftsmanship and innovation.Today, Vlassak-Verhulst stands for more than just beautiful buildings. It is a symbol of determination, vision and the power of collaboration.Their story is not only a story of architecture, but also of family, community and the constant search for perfection. At the passionate company, every residential dream begins with a no-obligation introductory meeting, during which the team listens carefully to the client's style, wishes and vision for the future home. A Vlassak-Verhulst villa is designed to last a lifetime. That's why they offer comprehensive aftercare and warranties that do just that. That can only be seen in their tremendous commitment to quality and concern for customer satisfaction.
At Vlassak-Verhulst, we spoke to interior designer Jarrith Anckaert to find out more about a recent, stunning piece of interior design they have realised. His passion and vision give a deeper insight into how a dream home is created.‘My love for interior design started early on.As a teenager, for instance, I changed the layout of my bedroom every season, simply by placing the furniture differently. That creative process always gave me a lot of energy and satisfaction. What matters to them is that customers get excited by the story we tell.A well-thought-out concept that rings true energises the team for the rest of the project. They start with a programme study and work with photos and atmospheric images to discover what the customer likes and values. Only then do we really get to work, and that is an immediate step in the right direction.’
‘What matters to us is that customers get excited about the story we tell’
We'd like to take you through their recent project. Starting with the central hall that extends to the rear façade, giving you a beautiful view of the garden. To the left is a spacious living room with an adjoining office space in an annex. To the right of the hall is the living kitchen with adjoining dining room, all in an open atmosphere. At the front, there is a side entrance that serves as a laundry and utility room, opening directly onto the central hall for easy passage to the upper floor.Upstairs they have a master bedroom and two bedrooms, each with their own bathroom. The attic houses a guest suite or multipurpose room under the open ridge, including a bathroom.
Vlassak-Verhulst is known for constantly renewing style for 50 years. This home is a combination of our beguinage style and Kempen farmhouse style. The team values far-reaching details and historical accuracy, which they translate into our new-build homes. In terms of interiors, sightlines and vistas are important to us.For example, the rooms on the rear façade are separated by a central hall, which is not completely enclosed, but offers an axis of view from the living room, through the corridor, past the wine cabinet to the living kitchen and the window to the outside. Also on the first floor, the master dressing room has sliding doors on both sides, aligned with the windows, creating a harmonious sight axis.
