In 2024, the GIGI STUDIOS headquarters underwent a temporary renovation led by joint interior designer Isern Serra. This ambitious project, located in Sant Cugat del Vallès, marks a new era for GIGI STUDIOS, a brand synonymous with craftsmanship, excellence and innovation in the optical industry. The aim is to create a space that not only regularly reflects the brand's values, but also provides an inspiring workplace for its employees.
GIGI STUDIOS, led by CEO and Creative Director Patricia Ramo, has always stood out for its contemporary, sophisticated and creative approach. The new headquarters must embody and further strengthen these concepts. Covering an area of almost 1000 square meters, the space extends over a rectangular floor plan with a central service box that houses the elevators and toilets. This leaves a translucent O-shaped floor that promotes a sense of openness and connection. The renovation, inspired by the idea of Domus and Museum, strives for a balance between functionality and aesthetics. The aim is to create a space that is serene, warm and elegant, while at the same time evoking a feeling of a creative studio, far away from the traditional office concept. The project includes various spaces such as workspaces, offices, meeting rooms, a kitchen and a showroom, all designed to create an open and fluid floor plan that encourages interaction and synergy between employees.
The morning sun illuminates the kitchen, while the afternoon sun creates a magical atmosphere in the showroom
One of the standout elements of the design is the strategic placement of the showroom and kitchen on one side of the space, and the offices, meeting rooms and customer experience on the other. This layout maximizes open space and makes optimal use of natural light. The morning sun illuminates the kitchen, while the afternoon sun creates a magical atmosphere in the showroom. The showroom itself is a masterpiece of minimalist design, where GIGI STUDIOS glasses take center stage. Two large sculptural tables, made of concrete and Roman travertine, form the heart of the exhibition space. These tables, carved by artists from the Barbany quarry, give the space a unique character. Round openings in the ceiling let in light and enhance the serene ambiance. The kitchen is designed as a meeting space reminiscent of home, with a large concrete island finished with microcement as the central element. Santa Cole's Head Hat lamps illuminate the island, while two large communal tables structure the space. This homely and Mediterranean atmosphere encourages relaxation and dialogue between people. The office area is distinguished by its curved tunnel with an integrated alcove bench that provides access to the various offices. These offices, which offer the best views, feature architectural columns that support concrete tables. Iconic pieces such as the Cesca chair, the Wassily chair from Knoll and the Bellhop lamp from Flos were chosen for the furnishings, which contribute to an atmosphere of elegance and refinement. The main meeting room, designed to make the most of natural light and greenery views, features a large concrete table and the sculptural FF CHAIR chair from Friends and Founders. This space embodies the philosophy of GIGI STUDIOS: a combination of opulence, care and creativity in every detail.
With this renovation project, Isern Serra has created not just a workspace, but an inspiring environment that reflects the values of GIGI STUDIOS and emphasizes the creativity of its users. Every element and every space has been designed with care, like a small work of art that aims to surprise and inspire the visitor. This project is a true ode to the evolution of GIGI STUDIOS and a celebration of its commitment to quality and innovation. Photography by Salva Lopez
