Madrid-based creative entrepreneur Natalia Swarz embodies how work and family life can reinforce each other rather than conflict. With a background as a consultant and artistic director, she already has several projects to her name. She founded the travel platform Hôtel Weekend and recently opened Museum of Mini, a place that is as much a shop as it is a meeting place.
Together with her partner, artist Armando Mesías, and their two young daughters Cecilia and Florencia, Natalia constantly strives to find a balance between her professional ambitions and the rhythm of her family life. For her, creativity is not just work, but a way of life – interwoven with the everyday moments they experience together.
A good example of this was a short holiday in the countryside near Segovia. There, the family chose a minimalist Tini Living house, designed to focus on simplicity and connection with nature. Surrounded by light and hills, they found peace at a different pace. These were days filled with small rituals: breakfast outside, siestas with the windows open, walks through the grass. Florencia's first steps and Cecilia's playful energy became part of those memories. Natalia describes these moments not as exceptional, but as essential: their simplicity is their greatest treasure.
The inspiration for all this? Her daughters. Cecilia is the explorer who tests toys and activities, while Florencia investigates the world through shapes and materials. Their reactions and expressions guide Natalia's choices and give direction to the collection and atmosphere of Museum of Mini. ‘They show me how children inhabit the world,’ says Natalia, ‘and that is an inexhaustible source of ideas for me.’
'These moments of being together, however simple, are the rituals we will cherish forever'
An important creative partner in Natalia Swarz's story is Rue Vintage 74, a Madrid-based gallery and interior design studio specialising in carefully selected vintage furniture and objects. Founded with a passion for timeless pieces and artisanal beauty, Rue Vintage 74 is known for its unique blend of historical charm and contemporary elegance. Their collections consist of furniture and accessories that are not only decorative but also tell a story. Each piece is carefully selected: from Italian design classics from the 1970s to French lighting and artistic objects from different decades. The gallery emphasises sustainability and authenticity – no mass production, but unique finds that give a space character and warmth.
For Natalia and her family, Rue Vintage 74 played a key role in furnishing their summer home in Segovia. The minimalist Tini Living house was transformed into an atmospheric retreat thanks to the gallery's selection. The furniture and objects not only provided comfort, but also a sense of continuity and connection with history. The handmade and carefully selected pieces gave the house a soul, despite its sleek, modern architecture. We are fans!
