A whole is only as strong as its details. That statement goes for a lot of things, but above all for interiors. In this project, Design Oostende took care of the final finishing with a few objects from our partner Gardeco Objects. The goal was to receive clients in a sophisticated environment without bringing too many different aspects together.
Design Oostende is a family business that focuses on iconic design furniture, art, and accessories. Their showroom is located in a former Fiat garage and is a crossroads where the work of many designers and artists converges. Without exception, their collections originate from emotional choices, and they let themselves be guided by their eye for passion and craftsmanship. Next, they arrange the selected pieces in credible constellations that feel homely and bring out the best of each design at the same time. For this project, they were called on to provide the new offices of Vastgoedgroep Degroote of an inviting interior, together with architectural firm Van Damme-Vandeputte. The result also contains some art pieces from the range of Gardeco Objects. As their primary wishes, the clients wanted the result to feel sophisticated without becoming too much, and that every customer should feel relaxed from the beginning until the end.
Both pieces clearly have an independent story
The first design that they selected for the real estate office is called Resilience and is a work from artist Marc Caelenberghe. In response to a difficult period in his own life, he designed a sculpture that symbolises the resilience that he then needed himself. The curvy pattern represents the force that pushes the design forward, and the result is a continuous reminder of the power to convert struggle into progress. For the second work, they incorporated To motivate from Ann Vrielinck. With this piece, the artist intended to honour life itself. The three figures are an expression of friendship and the profound connections that we can find in it. In order to make the message as universally intelligible as possible and fully identify with it as a spectator, she decided to only rudimentarily work out the faces of the sculptures. Both pieces clearly have an independent story, even though they effortlessly blend into the general interior design. This new real estate office enjoys an interior that effortlessly fulfills the initial wishes. The final product is an inviting place where clients feel at ease and employees can carry out their tasks in a pleasant environment. Thanks to the carefully selected art from Gardeco Objects, the result was taken to an even higher level.
