A new year, a clean slate. With a fresh calendar under our arms, we asked our partners to look back and look ahead to their projects, and their current situation.
Fja-Oeyen from Antwerp and Mol is a family business that has specialised for 4 generations in the manufacture of quality down blankets. And their customers are already in the 4th generation. We had a very lively chat with manager Flip Oeyen.
What is last year's project you are most proud of, and why?
‘A great collaboration with the local B&B 't Spijker. Those who have slept once under an Oeyen down will understand the full picture.’
What are you looking forward to professionally this year? What are the developments towards the future?
‘Step by step, the 4th generation is entering our business. And of course we look forward to continuing to put Fja-Oeyen on the map as a family.’
What would you like to realize within your sector that you have not yet been able to do?
‘Telling our family story about passion and quality internationally.’
Who is your customer base usually?
‘We mainly work directly with a private individual. Those who want to invest in a good night's sleep. Those who are aware that sleeping well contributes to better well-being. Those who still believe in Belgian craftsmanship and do not give in to the container economy.
As a 4th generation family business, we also have the honour of selling to the 4th generation of our original customers. For example, our blankets are given as a wedding gift from generation to generation.’
What do you wish for yourself and your (potential) customers for the new year, apart from a classic such as 'good health'?
‘We wish everyone a happy night. Sleeping is and remains a basic need, even more important than eating. On average, we can do without food for longer than without sleep. And yet sleeping well is still too much seen as a luxury....’
Thanks. Now excuse us, while we lay ourselves down here for a bit. This interview was exhausting ;)
