Nestled among the tranquil forests along the lake lies a unique place where gastronomy, art and nature merge. This restaurant is a harmonious blend of café and exhibition space, where organic materials and modern architecture create a sophisticated interplay of light and space. With seven different units, it offers a varied experience for visitors, a retreat where tranquillity, luxury and creativity come together.
The building consists of three transparent glass volumes that appear to float above the water like a light, white ark. Floor-to-ceiling glass allows sunlight to penetrate deep into the space, causing dust particles to dance gently and light and shadow to engage in a poetic dialogue. The architecture interprets the transience of the lake and the surrounding nature, with every detail contributing to a sense of “poetic living” inspired by Heidegger.
The entrance contrasts with the organic surroundings through a geometric stone formation that cuts powerfully yet elegantly through the landscape. Inside, guests are immediately captivated by panoramic views of the mountains and lake. Reflective floors and strategically placed boulders create both atmosphere and functional seating areas. Light patterns constantly shift across ceilings and walls, ensuring that the space is always changing and coming to life.
Here, guests are immersed in tranquillity and poetry, away from the hustle and bustle of the city, which both inspires and calms you.
The waterside café is constructed from terraces that enhance the view and depth. Materials such as recycled wood, natural textures and sculptural lighting create a warm, inviting atmosphere. The bar and wine storage reflect the surrounding greenery and water, allowing the interior and exterior to flow seamlessly into one another. Seasonal activities, such as open-air concerts, film evenings and weddings by the water, make for an unforgettable stay.
Along the lake are wooden cabins, nestled among cedar trees. With thatched roofs, rough wood structures and large windows, they offer an intimate, natural stay. Shadows from the trees play across the walls, while gentle breezes from the lake fill the air with a fresh scent. Inside, handmade decorations and natural materials are combined to create a rich, tactile experience. Here, guests are immersed in tranquillity and poetry, away from the hustle and bustle of the city, in a landscape that both inspires and calms. The design was realised by Wumichi Architects, a studio known for its poetic approach to architecture and deep connection to the natural environment. Their work strikes a subtle balance between minimalism and expressive materiality, with light, space and texture taking centre stage.
For this project, Wumichi Architects took the landscape as their starting point, carefully tailoring every detail – from the glass volumes to the handmade interior elements – to the surrounding forests, lake and mountainous horizon. Their vision transforms buildings into experiential spaces, where guests not only observe nature, but truly experience and feel it. The result is a harmonious interplay of architecture, art and landscape that invites reflection, tranquillity and poetic living. Photography by Reng Teng Vision
