Atelier Collón is a Belgian design studio where material, form and intention come together in quiet dialogue. Founded by designer Sophie Hellebaut, the atelier is known for its refined, handcrafted interior objects in solid wood, each piece thoughtfully created to bring presence without noise, and elegance without excess.
Working with responsibly sourced wood, the designer shapes lighting, bowls, vases and tableware that reflect both the resilience of the material and the subtlety of her hand. Since her first collection in 2021, her work has been guided by a clear focus: timeless design, sustainable practice, and a deep respect for natural form. Her objects do not seek attention, but rather earn it over time through their weight, their texture, and their careful construction. 
Each piece is made in Belgium, honouring local craft and the slow processes that industrial production often overlooks. The collections are divided into two lines. The PURE collection refines the wood to a smooth, polished surface, highlighting clean silhouettes and soft tactility. In contrast, the RAW collection celebrates the rougher edges — like knots, fissures, and irregular grain — allowing the imperfections of the wood to shape the final design. Neither is superior; both express a different aspect of the same material truth.

Sophie’s background in both design and thoughtful making is evident in her approach: precise, but never rigid. Minimalist, but never sterile. Her pieces integrate naturally into a variety of interiors, from the starkly contemporary to the quietly traditional. They’re designed not to dominate a space, but to belong to it. 
The name Atelier Collón is drawn from the Greek word kolóna and the Latin term columna, both meaning ‘column’. Not meant only as a structural element, but as a metaphor for support, rhythm, and continuity. A single column does not carry the weight of a building alone, just as Sophie’s objects are not meant to stand in isolation. They are part of something larger: a home, a gathering, a moment of calm.
Atelier Collón is rooted in the belief that beauty is not a matter of excess or ornament, but of attention. Of noticing the way wood curves under the hand, the quiet grain across a surface, the weight of something well made. These are more than decorative objects. These are anchors. Quiet reminders of what lasts when everything else moves fast.
