The Capsa collection by Carlos Salvador transforms lighting into an object of pure craftsmanship. The natural alabaster shade emits a warm glow that envelops a space in a serene and refined atmosphere. Every vein in the stone reveals the material’s organic beauty, making each lamp a unique piece. The filtered light subtly plays with transparency and shadow, inviting calm and contemplation, with a sense of wellbeing and balance at its core.
Behind Capsa is United Alabaster, a Spanish family business active in the alabaster craft since 1969. Based in Sarral, the company combines centuries-old artisanal knowledge with contemporary technology. Their team of skilled craftsmen can realise complex designs, with each project executed discreetly and tailored to the client. United Alabaster works exclusively with the highest quality alabaster, sourced from the quarries of La Puebla de Híjar and Gelsa. The company supplies lighting and panels for a variety of spaces worldwide, from luxury hotels and restaurants to private homes and even churches, consistently adding warmth and elegance to interiors.
The Capsa lamp highlights the intrinsic value of alabaster in a contemporary interior
The Capsa WS lamp plays with contrasts between delicacy and solidity. The delicate alabaster shade is paired with a bespoke marble base, available in white travertine or black Marquina. This combination emphasises the sculptural quality of the design and enhances the lamp’s timeless appeal. By merging the natural characteristics of alabaster and marble, the object transcends mere functionality, defining the interior as an artistic element. United Alabaster’s production process is a blend of traditional craftsmanship and advanced technology. After extraction from the quarries, the alabaster is carefully modelled in the workshop. Each piece is meticulously worked, preserving the stone’s unique features. More than 2,000 handmade lamps have now been installed worldwide. The combination of artisanal skill, expertise, and state-of-the-art machinery allows even the most complex designs to be realised, with quality and detail always prioritised.
The Capsa WS reflects a continuous pursuit of balance between light, material and form. The lamp creates an atmosphere where aesthetics and functionality converge, highlighting the intrinsic value of alabaster in a contemporary interior. Through the subtle interplay of light and shadow, the tactile experience of the materials, and the careful finishing, the piece gives the space its own character. Capsa demonstrates that lighting can be more than a mere source of illumination: it can become a sculpture that engages the senses and evokes a sense of calm.
