This time we would like to take you to a house in Benimaclet, enveloped in a serene and soft palette of nude colours and warm and neutral materials, designed by the founders of Xarquitectos. A sense of precision and creating a perfect harmony between function, quality and design are evident here.
Xarquitectos is a Spanish architecture and interior design studio founded by architects Ernesto Correa Selva and Patricia Maldonado Lafita.Based in Valencia, the studio develops projects in architecture, interior design, product design and graphic design. A sense of precision, detail and perseverance are always the basis of their realisations. Their working method and philosophy starts with understanding the client's needs and wishes. This way, they aim to offer the most suitable options and create a perfect harmony between function, quality and design. For the beautiful project we show you here, they once again demonstrate their expertise. This house in Benimaclet has been completely renovated and created to accommodate a family. The traditional house in Valencia, specifically in the Benimaclet district, which in its previous state consisted of two houses, one on the ground floor and the other on the first floor, and an outdoor patio that was neglected and unused due to small added structures. The project attempts to generate a single house, by connecting both elevations by opening a hole and building a new staircase that is part of the space with a great height. Moreover, this staircase is proposed because of its organic shape and the savings in floor space that the spiral staircase represents .In the case of a house in an interesting urban area, this house in Benimaclet respects all its facade and roof elements, as well as the wooden floors, which have been reinforced.
Harmonious and warm colour palette
An extension was also carried out that fully respects the surroundings and the house, merging the roof and creating a large hole in the facade facing the house's courtyard. The original façade of the house facing the patio has been converted into the partition between the kitchen and the living room, keeping the morphology and holes intact and saving the massive brick from which it is constructed.
The house tries to be fully functional and updated for a young family, but respecting its traditional essence. Therefore, natural materials, such as oak or marble, and neutral colours have been used. This house has a large kitchen diner, a living room, a bedroom and a bathroom on the ground floor, and three bedrooms and two bathrooms on the first floor, as well as a huge 54 m² outdoor patio on the ground floor. The design team managed to create a concept, maximise space, enhance natural light and a perfect combination of colours and materials. We are already keeping a close eye on Xarquitectos for no doubt more great projects in the future!
