Driven interior designer Bieke Casteleyn takes us to one of her most recent projects on the Belgian coast. Her use of natural materials and creation of visual harmony exude as much tranquillity as warmth, and this home proves that once again. With a passion for refinement and innovation, she breaks with traditional habits without causing offence.
BCINT guarantees the careful translation of a personal story into an interior tailored to the client's lifestyle. Yet every project by Bieke Casteleyn possesses an undeniable strength and purity that she spins like a thread throughout her career. Her keen eye for detail and careful material selection ensure that there is always a balance between the various aspects of a space. Form, colour and light therefore invariably come together in an all-encompassing harmony.
An undeniable power and purity
Her most recent project includes a studio on the Belgian coast. Transformed into a stylish and contemporary retreat. With an eye on harmony, materials and colours are consistently repeated throughout the flat. Accents of golden colours can be found throughout the home such as in the sanitary ware, table legs, handles, switches, lighting and other accessories. Another example is the use of green terrazzo, both in the kitchen and the bathroom. This green hue is also found in the painting technique around the shower and bed, as well as on the tabletop of the custom-made dining table. You will also find an orange undertone from the chosen teak wood veneer that harmonises nicely with the orange and ochre accents in the terrazzo. Besides paying attention to materials and colours, the functionality of the space was also considered. For instance, a conscious decision was made to combine the seating area and dining area to save space and create a cosy and open atmosphere. The studio has terraces on both sides. The sleeping and living areas are separated by a sliding door constructed with slats. This door can be opened during the day, preserving the view and creating a sense of openness. The perfect combination of functionality and cosiness makes this studio on the Belgian coast a wonderful place to stay. Her impressive craftsmanship and unique vision are once again beautifully reflected in this project. Photography by Annick Vernimmen
