Pure simplicity, a perfect balance of materials and an aura of pure tranquillity are David Vecchi's signature. With his most recent project, enveloped in warm colours and soft textures, you imagine yourself in a subdued serenity. In this way, he always arrives at the most peaceful environments that reflect beauty, silence and simplicity.
His love for design came further from a deep, personal experience. He lost his father when he was barely 5 years old. Thus, growing up, Vecchi realised that he had never had the chance to know him and had nothing to remind me of him.’Growing up, this realisation brought out a deep desire in me to leave a sign of my presence on this earth,’ he said.Growing up in Rome, surrounded by majestic monuments that reflected the life of the past, he was deeply influenced by the power of architecture that transcended time and captured the essence of the human experience.
Natural fibres contribute to simplicity and tactile beauty in space
During these young years, he explored various artistic expressions, including a brief infatuation with painting. However, it was through pursuing art education that he discovered his true calling in architecture. The designer realised that architecture offered a unique platform to combine artistry, functionality and the ability to shape the built environment. More than that, it allowed him to create spaces that could evoke emotions, inspire introspection and forge a deep bond between individuals and their environment. Thus, his love for design was born out of a personal quest for sustainability, a desire to leave a meaningful legacy and a deep admiration for the rich historical environment that surrounded him. This journey led David Vecchi to the world of architecture, where he could weave the threads of art, culture and human experience to create spaces that would stand as witnesses to our shared humanity. A radiance of calm and nostalgia can always be recognised throughout his designs. He manages to achieve this through the use of natural materials, subdued colours and an emphasis on light and shadow. His colour palette compliments the materials perfectly. With his mainly neutral and subdued choice, it reflects a desire for simplicity and a connection to nature. He often uses white tones, warm greys, earth tones and occasional accents of deep, muted colours. The aim is to create spaces that are calm and timeless, where the emphasis is on the quality of light and the interplay of textures rather than bright or vibrant colours. His main design desire is to design buildings that transcend their utilitarian purpose and become vessels for human experiences, elevating the mind and inspiring introspection.
